The Drive
Here is an account of my first daytime drive in nz.
Please refer to map.
on the way to my heater: neon green
on the way to home: dark green
I was going to pick up the gas heater in a house in campbells bay at 9am. I started around 8:30am because indeed it is supposedly a short drive. As it turns out, there are instances that either it's too late for me to signal and be in the correct lane for it or I forget that i am supposed to turn right. I pass by an intersection and tell myself ok, after two intersections I should turn, and then I don't realize that I've passed it already. No choice but to go straight and then make a left somewhere in a lonely driveway and then head back.
And then... when I headed back, I thought I was going the right way, but I was heading the opposite way again :(. I had the map in my left hand just in front of me and my right hand on the steering wheel. It looked so easy on the map. lol.
Getting there took me 1 hour and a half. It is funny at Sunset North, there were a lot of cars and so I knew there must be a big motorway up ahead, I thought "oh NO sister, not today, no motorways today". so I had to turn left again to find a lonely driveway and make another three point turn. After that, I bought gas. If you can see a little dot at Sunset North, that's where I gassed up... I looked at my gas gauge and thought ... there's still some gas left, but I haven't even got the heater yet, I must get home when I do get the heater... well, get home, with the car.
I went to the gas station and told the attendant, $80 for 91 please and then proceeded to put gas in. I had to go back in there and tell... excuse me, I paid $80 it took only $67.
I was getting too familiar with a particular road by this time as i've missed a lot of turns there and made u turns and triple point turns several times. Well, it was 10:30 by the time I got to the house. The woman was like, "I thought you said nine o'clock"...
I took the shortest route to home by the way. It was easy going home. and made it back, parked just as it was. And then I opened my email and found note from me dear ex saying, "...you must gas up, knowing you, you don't go the shortest route...". haaaa
